A Tribute To The Few Who Sacrificed For The Many

August 20th, 2008 by Manana4494

America has successfully celebrated another Independence Day. I could be corrected in my calculation, but I believe every American celebrated this great holiday in some fashion, with barbecues aplenty along with many firework displays. All government offices, banks and many businesses were closed in observance of this holiday.

One thing about Independence Day is that it is a great American holiday of which few people object to.

Americans, overall, love to celebrate … anything. And I don’t know anybody who did not join in the celebration of Independence Day. It’s not a right or left celebration. It’s not a Republican or Democrat celebration. It’s not a conservative or liberal celebration. It’s an American celebration.

Independence Day is not like other holidays such as Christmas or Easter, which are religious holidays engendering all kinds of emotional responses for and against. Every year we seem to have what some call the “Christmas battle.” Some people believe in Christmas, others do not. Some people celebrate Christmas, others do not. Unfortunately, the ones who do not celebrate Christmas are the ones offended by those who do celebrate Christmas.

Go figure. I guess the old Ebenezer Scrooge still haunts the land.

But Independence Day is different. It is a celebration of our American freedoms. We may disagree on what those freedoms are from time to time but no American disagrees with the fact that this country is the land of the free. Whether it is the land of the brave, only future historians will be able to tell us that.

America is in a great struggle now, concerning illegal immigration. Thinking about this I am wondering if Native Americans are not rethinking the leniency of their immigration policy way back when. They did not have a good policy and look what happened to them.

Our good old American philosophy is, “I may not agree with what you say, but I’ll fight to the death for your right to say it.”

Some people might not think this is a great country. If that is true, why does everybody in the world want to come here? Maybe I am missing something, but I do not see a mad immigration rush to China n or, for that matter, to Russia or any other country in the world.

In many countries, the epitome of success is immigrating to America. That is the one goal they work for all their life. If they cannot go, they do everything in their power to make sure their children can go to America, so they can experience the American dream n to become whatever they want to become.

The big problem we are having with immigration only proves how great our country is. We may not all agree on the solution to this problem, but recognizing this problem only proves what a great nation we are.

The greatness of our country is also seen in the fact that all our politicians have failed in destroying our country. My take on these politicians is, how can so few cause so much trouble for so many people? And the crazy part of it is, the American people vote these politicians in office knowing full well how bad they are going to screw up our country once they get in office.

If elected politicians were half as smart as running-for-election-politicians, we would not have all the problems in our country. I think when a politician is sworn into office something happens. I’m not sure what happens, but I think it has to do with frying brain cells. After all, the word “elected” sort of resembles “electrocuted.”

The statesmen of yesterday have faded away, only to be replaced by self-serving politicians who cannot think beyond the next election. If the electorate was smart, it will insist on passing a law forbidding any politician to run for reelection. The moment thoughts of reelection come to mind that politician would be sent to a rehab center until those thoughts faded away. Personally, I would insist on a three strikes and you’re out policy.

Although all Americans celebrate Independence Day, many have forgotten the tremendous sacrifice making it possible. Looking back over our history, we can see that there have been a few Americans who have sacrificed for the benefit of all Americans. Some of those few have given the ultimate sacrifice.

I may not like war, and the consequences involved in war, but I realize it is the foundation of our Independence Day. Freedom never comes cheap. Maintaining that freedom is the costliest thing a nation can do, often sacrificing the lives of its best citizens. From the Revolutionary War all the way to present day, our American freedom has been a constant struggle and battle.

All Americans today and tomorrow are the beneficiaries of the sacrifice of “the few.”

Our spiritual freedom is also the result of the suffering and sacrifice of the one for the many. “For if through the offence of one many be dead, much more the grace of God, and the gift by grace, which is by one man, Jesus Christ, hath abounded unto many.” (Romans 5:15 KJV.)

Because of this, the apostle Paul could say, “Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage.” (Galatians 5:1 KJV.)

All freedom, national and religious, comes with a price … vigilance. Negligence always ends in bondage.

Let us thank “the few” for our national liberty and “the One” for our spiritual liberty. The two go hand-in-hand.

Themed Travel Destinations With Family

August 20th, 2008 by Manana4494

If you are looking for fun theme family holidays this summer, you have many to choose from. When considering which holiday to take, you should find out what your family is interested in seeing. Do they want to go on an educational trip, an amusement park trip, a sightseeing trip in a scenic location, or a winter holiday? Once you discuss options with your family, you should begin planning your vacation. Most people plan family vacations a few months in advance because of hotel rooms, boat rentals, campgrounds, and other provisions may not be available when you want to go on vacation.

One of the most popular destination spots is Washington DC. This is a wonderfully historic city with many monuments, restaurants, museums, and other places for you to explore with your family. Take a tour on a bus or walk the different neighborhoods. Washington DC is a great place at any time of year. In addition to great historic buildings, there are plenty of art galleries, theaters, and coffee houses for your family to relax in. Children of all ages will enjoy seeing this city, especially at nighttime when the monuments are lit up. There are many tourists that enjoy taking pictures and buying trinkets from street vendors.

Another fun holiday you can take with your family includes a trip to Hershey Park, which is located in Hershey, Pennsylvania. You can visit Hershey on your way to Washington DC because it is only an hour or so away. Enjoy some good rides, chocolate treats, and buy some fun stuff.

Disneyworld is another good destination for families. This themed family holiday includes day passes or three-day passes that can be used during your stay. If you plan on visiting Florida, you should consider buying a pass that includes time in Disneyworld, universal studios, and Epcot Center. This will save you money and it can save you time. Instead of having to stand in line, you will be able to go into these parks and have a great time.

There are many wonderful hotels and resorts to stay in when you decide to vacation in or near Disneyworld. You can rent a car from the airport, enjoy free shuttle service if traveling to and from the airport, and be able to see the sights of Florida and visit some interesting amusement parks.

If you want to travel with your family during the winter, you should choose somewhere warm. Southern California has many small and large cities for you to visit. San Diego, Los Angeles, and other areas are home to amusement parks, state parks, and the ocean. Your family will have a good time being in the warm weather while on vacation.

A themed vacation is one that your family will remember for a long time. Theme vacations are easy to research and should be arranged in advance so you will not have to worry about finding hotel rooms, rental cars, or other accommodations.

The Andy Griffith Show (Season 6) DVD Review

August 20th, 2008 by Manana4494

One of the most beloved shows in television history, The Andy Griffith Show takes its viewers back to a simpler time of small town America, apple pie, and black and white television… The trademark whistling theme song is one of the most recognizable in history, and the duration of the show in syndicated reruns is unrivaled by its peers. The Andy Griffith Show follows the exploits of the small town of Mayberry and its family values, no nonsense sheriff Andy. Widowed, and father to a small boy named Opie (Ron Howard), Andy is joined in Mayberry by his sidekick Deputy Barney Fife, his relative and housekeeper Aunt Bee (Frances Bavier), and a host of other eccentric characters.

But the show stealer is Barney Fife (Don Knotts) who plays the role of a sometimes incompetent, kooky deputy always in over his head. The onscreen dynamic between Griffith and Knotts is truly magical. Both men would go on to heralded careers in show business with Knotts starring in numerous roles, such as Mr. Furley on Three’s Company, and Griffith as the title star of Matlock. And Ron Howard (Opie) would go on to establish himself as one of Hollywood’s most well-known directors…

The Andy Griffith Show (Season 6) DVD features a number of hilarious episodes including the season premiere “Opie’s Job” in which Opie falls into a heated competition with another boy for a grocery store job, prompting Opie to run all over Mayberry delivering goods in an attempt to please his boss… Other notable episodes include “Off to Hollywood” in which Andy receives a one-thousand dollar royalty check for his idea for a show “Sheriff Without a Gun,” prompting those around him to convince him to take a trip to Hollywood with the money, and “Aunt Bee Learns to Drive” in which Aunt Bee buys a car from Goober so she can learn to drive for herself and not be reliant on others for transportation…

Learn About Windows Vista Registry Cleaner.

August 20th, 2008 by Manana4494

Just keep in mind, you can keep your vista system is perfect operating state by regularly cleaning it up and Registry Cleaner is one of the tools that will help you do so. Application error messages are reduced hence increasing the speed of the Vista operating system as well as its performance. Adware and Spyware leave behind a whole plethora of errors that the Registry Cleaner removes. Therefore, for a complete and secure Vista experience, get a Windows Vista Registry Cleaner.

Microsoft Windows Vista is the most sought after operating system now-a-days. What is most fascinating about Windows Vista is its interface. The interface is comprised of an animated see-through window that has a touch of graceful and subtle color along with a brand new Start menu. While this many be the case, keeping the system efficient and effective is still the key interest of users and computer professionals. Windows Vista Registry Cleaner is one such utility that is needed to maintain the operating system in good shape.

The registry is catalog of all information about the software, hardware and preferences of the user along with all the settings details. A registry key in Vista operating system is created or modified or deleted every time new software program has been installed or uninstalled. This is the case even when software programs are used.

Any error that occurs during installing or uninstalling of software in Windows Vista is also stored along with the error application in the registry. This causes the registry to be crammed with orphaned or corrupted entries. The registry also gets stuffed with invalid programs that you may have removed from your system long ago. This causes the resources of the system to choke and this considerably slows down the Windows Vista computer.

Registry Cleaner is, often, used to counter software problems in Windows Vista based computers as well as to optimize the system performance. It basically removes the invalid entries from the computer. But the problem that goes with badly developed Registry Cleaner is that it may remove useful programs keys, which may be useful for running your favorite software. Hence a good Registry Cleaner would scan the system for any dubious entry that may harm your system. It would also make sure that the suspicious entry does not affect any software that has already been installed and ones that are in use.

If any problems are detected by the Windows Vista Registry Cleaner after it analyzes the vista system, you can view each of these issues and ask for a detailed explanation of that particular problem. On the other hand, you can choose for an automatic correction of the errors. But you must remember to take a back up of all registry keys that you require to delete before you run the Registry Cleaner to make sure you are always safe.

How We Taught Our Dog To Walk At The Heel

August 20th, 2008 by Manana4494

It all started when our Bichon Frise dog Lexy was about four months old.

My husband Ken wanted to take her out each day so they could walk together but all she wanted to do was pull and tug. Ken couldn’t trust this behavior walking along shoulders of roads or if he had to cross the street.

He dealt with this for about three weeks complaining that the dog would not listen. Then he realized it wasn’t Lexy’s fault, it was his. Ken needed to show her what he wanted with patience.

The next morning Ken and Lexy walked out the door for their morning walk. He put Lexy at his right heel and called out the ‘heel’ command as he stepped forward with his right foot. Lexy did exactly what she had been doing every day - she pulled and tugged as she jumped out in front of him. This time the difference was going to be Ken. He refused to move forward and stood firm. Ken gently put her back at his right heel and then repeated the same thing over and over.

That first day they didn’t get more than ten feet! The next day they did about six feet. It seemed as though they would never get to walk together. Eventually Lexy started to understand Ken would not go forward if she would not stay at his right heel. This whole process took about one week.

Now Lexy loves being by our side when we go for a walk and stays right at our heel with the occasional ‘heel’ command and we enjoy our walks together.

So take the time not to move forward with your dog until your dog understands what you want. And remember, just use one word commands.

Leonardo da Vinci: Leonardo’s Animals Part 2 (of 2)

August 20th, 2008 by Manana4494

Leonardo is known to have kept horses, along with dogs, cats and other animals. Although numerous animal studies are found throughout Leonardo’s drawings, his most frequent animal sketches are of horses. His renderings are extremely detailed and life-like. He infused his renditions of animals with nobility - a characteristic that stemmed from his deep love and respect for the animals he sketched and painted.

In the mid 1480s, Leonardo moved from Florence to Milan. At that time, Milan was one of the most powerful city-states in Northern Italy. And, it’s Duke, Ludovico Sforza, commissioned Leonardo to make a horse like no other to honor the Duke’s father, Francesco Sforzo. It was to be a massive, bronze-cast statue - the largest statue ever built, standing 24 feet high.

Leonardo made a great number of preparatory drawings for his Sforza Horse. His notebooks are filled with proportional studies of horses. There are detailed diagrams of the anatomy of horses, along with notes on how to cast it, and it would weigh 80 tons once complete! Leonardo made the clay model to scale, but the bronze horse was not to be. In 1499, the French army threatened an attack. The metal intended for the Sforza Horse would be needed to make canons. Leonardo left Milan before the French Army marched on the city. Seeing the massive clay horse, the French soldiers could not resist using it for target practice.Thereafter it was reduced to rubble. Leonardo became despondent and at the same time, vowed to one day see his horse completely built.

Much has been written throughout history about the Horse that Never Was . Five hundred years after the destruction of the clay model, based on the notes and sketches of Leonardo, the 24-foot bronze horse was cast. In fact, two full-scale statues were completed. One stands in Michigan, while the other was given as a gift to the City of Milan. United Airline Pilot Charles Dent made it happen. Upon seeing the original sketches that had been rediscovered in Spain, he started the process of raising the necessary funds to build the full-scale, bronze horse. His plan was to give it as a gift to the Italians from the Americans. Being something of a sculptor himself, he built a clay model of the horse to Leonardo’s specifications. And, although Charles Dent died in 1994, his dream lived on and over four-million dollars was raised. On September 10th, 1999, exactly 500 years after the French destroyed Leonardo’s clay model, the bronze statue was unveiled in Milan. On October 7th, 1999, a second casting of the horse was unveiled in Grand Rapids, Michigan. This second horse is known as the American Horse.

Along with his sudies of mammals, Leonardo made hundreds of bird sketches. In the medieval publication Lives of Artists, Giorgio Vasari tells how Leonardo would go to the markets and buy caged birds, and then open their cages, giving them back their freedom.(1) Leonardo studied the motion of their wings in flight as well as their anatomy and physiology. He wrote down and illustrated his own theories on the flight of birds and was inspired to make several sketches of mechanical flying machines. He wrote a treatise called Codex on The Flight of Birds in which he made diagrams of a helical wing, beating wings, a parachute, and bat wings. Later he realized the problems with human-powered propulsion and began making notes and diagrams of gliders. He also designed a machine based on a helical screw that was 32 or 33 feet in diameter.(2) It was supposed to lift off and fly as the blade rotated, resembling a modern-day helicopter.

Leonardo’s passionate interest in studying animals was unique for his time. He studied and observed animals, and sketched and painted them with grace and realism. Other Renaissance artists like Michelangelo (1475-1564) and Raphael (1483-1520), who focused more on the humanity and divinity in art, did not include animals in their works to the extent as Leonardo did.(3) Without neglecting the Divine in Humanity, Leonardo above all other Renaissance artists, elevated all of nature and made it part of the Divine.

Imprints: Research Your Book’s Market as You Write

August 20th, 2008 by Manana4494

If you’re serious about getting your manuscript published, whether it’s a literary novel, a true-crime book, or a genre romance, it’s a good idea to find out who exactly might publish it. “But that’s my agent’s job,” you might say. True. But it’s also your job, and your responsibility to your career as an author, to be well-informed about publishing houses. Gather any knowledge you can about who’s publishing what-whether you have an agent or not.

Most publishing houses, especially big ones, are divided into “imprints,” which publish under a separate name, often in a specific genre. They usually have their own set of editors, though some editors acquire manuscripts for multiple imprints. Some are much more narrow than others-for example, books published under the imprint that shares the name of the house (Random House, Simon & Schuster, etc.) usually cut a wide swath: fiction and nonfiction; literary and commercial. But each publishing house also has more specific imprints, and creates new ones on a regular basis. Random House, the world’s biggest publisher, lists no fewer than fifty-five different U.S. imprints on its website. And that doesn’t count those that produce audiobooks, large-print texts, etc.

Visit Random House’s website, and the websites of as many publishers as possible. Even if you think it’s not the place for your genre, you may be surprised. Most publishers list their imprints, along with brief descriptions, and often a specific imprint doesn’t fit the overall image of that publishing house. Houses create new imprints to follow book industry trends: for example, following the success of such authors as Bill O’Reilly and Ann Coulter, several new politically conservative imprints appeared, including Crown Forum at Random House, Sentinel at Penguin, and Threshold at Simon & Schuster. Also, imprints are popping up all over the place to cater to the fast-growing market of Latin-American readers, such as Rayo at HarperCollins.

After you consult the publishers’ own lists, bypass their marketing lingo and look at their products, in bookstores. Browse Amazon, or go into your local Barnes & Noble, and head for the section where you think your book belongs. If you’re writing a commercial mystery series, it will most likely be published as a mass-market paperback (until you become a household name and graduate to the hardcover ranks). Browse the shelves, or scroll down the Amazon pages of books similar to yours, and make a list of the imprints you see. Most likely a few will appear over and over-the major publishers-and you’ll see a few others, perhaps smaller houses or new imprints. If you’re in the mystery section, about one-fourth of the books’ spines will say “Berkley Prime Crime”-Penguin’s mass-market mystery imprint.

Once you have an agent, if they’re at all competent, they’ll know to submit your genre mystery series to an editor at Berkley who acquires for their Prime Crime imprint. But let’s back up: if you see a particular type of mystery filling the shelves (or missing from them), keep that in mind when devising your own series idea. But don’t follow trends blindly: remember that the books now on the shelves were acquired as long ago as two years, and the trend you see may already have passed.

An even more helpful goal is to be able to ask a prospective agent the reasonable question, “What are some imprints you might submit my manuscript to?” If you’ve written a commercial mystery series, and they don’t mention Berkley (or the other major mystery imprints), perhaps that agent isn’t savvy enough, or simply isn’t the right one for your manuscript. If you’ve done your homework, you’re better equipped to make in informed decision.

The same holds true after you’ve signed on with an agent. Refrain from sending them a list of places you want your manuscript submitted. That’s like saying, “I don’t trust you to do your job.” Few things annoyed me more when I was an agent. And please, I beg you, don’t contact an editor who received your manuscript through an agent, unless you know the editor personally. Following up is part of the agent’s job. However, it is (or should be) perfectly acceptable to ask where your book has been submitted and why a particular imprint isn’t on the list.

There’s one terrific reference book for info about both publishers and agents: Jeff Herman’s Guide, which is updated every year. It needs to be, since its long list of book agents and book publishers is ever-changing. It provides company contact info, names, submission policies, and genre preferences of both agents and publishers. If your agent mentions a publisher/imprint to you that you haven’t heard of, look them up in the guide, search for them on Amazon, and Google them.

In short, it’s always best to be as knowledgeable as you can about the industry. It can help you focus your manuscript, especially if it’s in a commercial genre. It’ll help you find an agent. It’ll help you work with your agent to market your book to the right places, and identify whether your agent is doing the best he or she can with your manuscript. You don’t need to have insider contacts or shell out the dough for a subscription to Publishers Weekly. Just do a little browsing of the Internet or the bookstore, and reap the benefits of your homework!

How to (TRY) to Dispute Credit Report Errors

August 20th, 2008 by Manana4494

Your credit report is a type of consumer report and contains information about where you work, live, what you own and how you pay your bills. It also may show whether you’ve been sued or arrested or have filed for bankruptcy. Companies called consumer reporting agencies (CRAs) or credit bureaus compile and sell your credit report to businesses. Because businesses use this information to evaluate your applications for credit, insurance, employment, and other purposes allowed by the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), it’s important that the information in your report is complete and accurate.

Estimates indicate that as many as three forths of all consumer reports are inaccurate or have information that should have been removed. Chances are your report has something that is inaccurate of outdated.

Logic would suggest that you periodically review your credit report for inaccuracies or omissions. This could be especially important if you’re considering making a major purchase, such as buying a home or a new car.

Checking in advance on the accuracy of information in your credit file could speed the credit-granting process.

Getting Your Credit Report

If you’ve been denied credit, insurance, or employment because of information supplied by a CRA, the FCRA says the company you applied to must give you the CRA’s name, address, and telephone number. If you contact the agency for a copy of your report within 60 days of receiving a denial notice, the report is free. In addition, you’re entitled to one free copy of your report a year if you can prove that (1) you’re unemployed and plan to look for a job within 60 days, (2) you’re on welfare, or (3) your report is inaccurate because of fraud. Otherwise, a CRA may charge you up to $9.00 for a copy of your report.

If you simply want a copy of your report, call the CRAs listed in the Yellow Pages under credit or credit rating and reporting. Call each credit bureau listed since more than one agency may have a file on you, some with different information. The three major national credit bureaus are:

Equifax
P.O. Box 740241
Atlanta, GA 30374-0241
(800) 685-1111.

Experian
P.O. Box 2104
Allen, TX 75013
(888) EXPERIAN (888-397-3742).

Trans Union
P.O. Box 1000
Chester, PA 19022
(800) 916-8800.

Correcting Errors
Under the FCRA, both the CRA and the organization that provided the information to the CRA, such as a bank or credit card company, have responsibilities for correcting inaccurate or incomplete information in your report. To protect all your rights under the law, contact both the CRA and the information provider.

First, tell the CRA in writing what information you believe is inaccurate. Include copies (NOT originals) of documents that support your position. In addition to providing your complete name and address, your letter should clearly identify each item in your report you dispute, state the facts and explain why you dispute the information, and request deletion or correction. You may want to enclose a copy of your report with the items in question circled. Your letter may look something like the sample below. Send your letter by certified mail, return receipt requested, so you can document what the CRA received. Keep copies of your dispute letter and enclosures.

CRAs must reinvestigate the items in question-usually within 30 days-unless they consider your dispute frivolous.

Now we get to the good part. If you have several items to dispute and submit them at the same time the CRA will almost always consider your dispute frivolous. Sorry, that’s just the way it is. Your best bet is to dispute one or two items at a time. Send your letter, wait two weeks, send the next letter and so on. Best idea is to find something wrong with what is being reported. Check the details. Are the dates correct, the amount correct, the payments correct? Do you even owe the debt? Was it paid off?

The CRA must forward all relevant data you provide about the dispute to the information provider. After the information provider receives notice of a dispute from the CRA, it must investigate, review all relevant information provided by the CRA, and report the results to the CRA. If the information provider finds the disputed information to be inaccurate, it must notify all nationwide CRAs so they can correct this information in your file.

· Disputed information that cannot be verified must be deleted from your file.
· If your report contains erroneous information, the CRA must correct it.
· If an item is incomplete, the CRA must complete it. For example, if your file showed that you were late making payments, but failed to show that you were no longer delinquent, the CRA must show that you’re current.
· If your file shows an account that belongs only to another person, the CRA must delete it.

Now for the REAL story. The information provider will almost always responds saying they investigated and the debt is valid. That’s all it takes for the CRA to substantiate the debt and tell you to take a hike. Now think about it, you have a debt that is not yours and you go to the CRA to disputed it. They send a letter and to the no good company reporting you as a deadbeat and asked them to substantiate a non-existent debt. To add insult to injury that no good company tells the CRA it’s good debt and your SOL.

When the reinvestigation is complete, the CRA must give you the written results and a free copy of your report if the dispute results in a change. If an item is changed or removed, the CRA cannot put the disputed information back in your file unless the information provider verifies its accuracy and completeness, and the CRA gives you a written notice that includes the name, address, and phone number of the provider.

Also, if you request, the CRA must send notices of corrections to anyone who received your report in the past six months. Job applicants can have a corrected copy of their report sent to anyone who received a copy during the past two years for employment purposes. If a reinvestigation does not resolve your dispute, ask the CRA to include your statement of the dispute in your file and in future reports.

Second, in addition to writing to the CRA, tell the creditor or other information provider in writing that you dispute an item. Again, include copies (NOT originals) of documents that support your position. Many providers specify an address for disputes. If the provider then reports the item to any CRA, it must include a notice of your dispute. In addition, if you are correct-that is, if the disputed information is not accurate-the information provider may not use it again.

Personally, after helping dozens of people clear negative, incorrect information from their credit reports I can tell in option 1 is a necessary step but for the most part a useless step. Going right to the creditor and documenting the attempt is by far the best way to remove the inaccurate information on your credit reports. After disputing the information to the creditor, documenting the attempt, and documenting the non response of the creditor you have irrefutable evidence to present to the credit bureau. According to the federal law they have no choice but to remove the incomplete or inaccurate information

Accurate Negative Information
When negative information in your report is accurate, only the passage of time can assure its removal. Accurate negative information can generally stay on your report for 7 years. There are certain exceptions:

· Information about criminal convictions may be reported without any time limitation.
· Bankruptcy information may be reported for 10 years.
· Credit information reported in response to an application for a job with a salary of more than $75,000 has no time limit.
· Credit information reported because of an application for more than $150,000 worth of credit or life insurance has no time limit.
· Information about a lawsuit or an unpaid judgment against you can be reported for seven years or until the statute of limitations runs out, whichever is longer.
·
Adding Accounts to Your File
Your credit file may not reflect all your credit accounts. Although most national department store and all-purpose bank credit card accounts will be included in your file, not all creditors supply information to CRAs: Some travel, entertainment, gasoline card companies, local retailers, and credit unions are among those creditors that don’t.

If you’ve been told you were denied credit because of an insufficient credit file or no credit file and you have accounts with creditors that don’t appear in your credit file, ask the CRA to add this information to future reports. Although they are not required to do so, many CRAs will add verifiable accounts for a fee. You should, however, understand that if these creditors do not report to the CRA on a regular basis, these added items will not be updated in your file.

Simple Homeschool Success Tips

August 20th, 2008 by Manana4494

There certainly is an abundance of homeschooling information available and this is a good thing… for the most part… as long as you don’t get bogged down in overload and suffer paralysis by analysis. There are a lot of wonderful articles and tips to help you insure your homeschool success.

So, through the experiences of my own and reading about those experiences and advice of others, here are some of, not only the best, but most universal home school success tips.

First of all have fun. Make learning fun. It should be for kids. And by the way, enjoy learning new things with your kids. There is some much in this world that we cannot control, so let’s let control what we can… our attitude and how we approach each and every day. Children will absorb your attitude and mood like a sponge, so stay upbeat and enthusiastic and your successes will reflect it.

Next, limit (or eliminate) your interruptions. This was my nemesis.

In this communication age in which we live, interruptions come at you from every direction, so you’ll need to stay focused. If don’t have an answering device, get one. Turn the ringers off.

Educate your family and friends as to your homeschool schedule. And it’s not just the phones (cell included); it’s the drop by visitors as well. Keep your time you spend homeschooling your kids very sacred.

And while I’m on this subject, this means that you can’t be a distraction to your kids. By this I mean you can’t be running around doing other things while your kids are trying to study and complete their assignments and projects. Stay focused on your children’s education during this time.

I mentioned paralysis by analysis earlier and this one dovetails off of that. Keep your teaching and homeschooling simple. With so much information and programs readily available to you, it’s easy to find yourself using an educational buffet of plans, curriculums, and approaches. Ultimately your kids and you won’t like nor benefit from this.

Be flexible, be pragmatic if something isn’t working, but don’t be mercurial. And when it comes to being a homeschooling parent, you must take steps to organize and simplify your life. During your homeschooling year limit your commitments and outside activities… keep your life simple and you’ll be happier; and with happiness comes success.

Don’t beat yourself up! Have confidence. Know that you can do it. Your faith is your beacon. Reward is directly related to effort. If you are doing all that you can, your children will learn and be successful. Children learn throughout the world in all kinds of environments. Be enthusiastic with each new day, get help when you need it, stay on a path continual improvement, and your children’s educational success will follow.

If you get stuck… read. Without reading skills your children will never reach their full potential. If your day becomes shot full of holes with life’s unplanned and uncontrollable events… then take some time and read to and read with the kids. There is no better life preserver for a day that has spun out of control than to cuddle up and read with your children.

There are so many wonderful people involved in homeschooling, and with today’s technology it is so easy to get in touch with these invaluable resources, you should not go wanting for advice, answers, or just some rejuvenating conversation and reassurance.

Online there are forums and support groups. Offline there is your church or library. Get in touch and be a part. As a homeschooler, you are in a sense a professional educator. Find yourself a couple of good publications and subscribe, or opt in to a few of your favorite newsletters. The message here is that you need not tackle everything solo.

When it comes to resources there is one out there that is often shadowed by the prevalence of the internet… and that is your local library. Your library is a wonderful resource. Libraries are a tremendous resource for videos, audio tapes, learning materials for all subject matter… (And of course books!). If you could only pick one resource and one resource only… choose a library.

Take breaks. For me, taking shorter more frequent day breaks as opposed to less frequent longer breaks always worked better for my family and kids. Of course, the dynamics of every family is different, but if you’ve haven’t tried this approach you should. I think you and your kids will like it. Of course, I’m not talking about a day off every other day… but shorter more often day breaks give you a chance to re-energize and catch up.

I mentioned family dynamics; and since you will be homeschooling you will naturally be introducing a very different and time consuming aspect into your family dynamics.

There will times when there just aren’t enough hours in the day. This is why it is very important to stay focused and plan as best you can. Avoid those activities that steal your day away. Remember, you are homeschooling. Try to organize outside activities all into a day or two instead of spreading them out across your week and having constant ‘little’ interruptions on a daily basis. I would much rather have longer days of outside activities, if it meant I could keep my homeschooling days uninterrupted. I found that my kids and my family appreciated this approach.

Unless you are an incredibly organized and efficient person that operates like a well oiled machine, you’ll find that all of the above won’t come together for you over night. Don’t feel disheartened… it doesn’t for anyone that I know of! No schedule is perfect all the time and no two schedules and organizational skills are the same. Work to sand, buff, and polish what works for you and over time you will find your stride.
